Polygon wrote:The first two Shenmue games are coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One later this year, Sega announced today. The re-release, Shenmue 1 & 2, will be released sometime in 2018.
Sega calls the Shenmue 1 & 2 re-release the “definitive version” of the classic adventure games with modernized features such as “fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers.”
The original Shenmue was released for Sega Dreamcast in 1999 and introduced players to Ryo Hazuki, a young martial artist on a journey of discovery and revenge. Sega followed up the ambitious adventure game with a sequel in 2001 for the original Xbox and Sega Dreamcast.
Series creator Yu Suzuki is currently working on a sequel, Shenmue 3, which was announced in 2015 and partially crowdfunded through Kickstarter. Shenmue 3 is slated to be released sometime later this year.
