Tablets
Well, a few years ago I thought the idea of having an tablet was kinda dumb. I mean, all they really are just smart phones that are just bigger. I was like "Why not just get a laptop or just use your smartphone?" But a few months ago I was (trying) to read an article on my smartphone and after about 10 minutes or so my eyes where straining like hell. I could have could have read it with my laptop, but I never really relieved how cumbersome it could be for something so simple. So I started toying with the idea of getting an tablet. After the snowball gained speed and mass, I somehow went from the idea of buying an el'cheapo tablet to getting an Nexus 7 (32GB) as a Christmas gift. I'm actually looking forward to reading kindle books on it. But what about you guys? Do you already have a tablet? If so, what kind? If not, why? Discuss!
Re: Tablets
I just picked up a Nexus 7 16gb (1st generation 2012 model) during the black friday madness (I shopped online. I would never go out on that day.) I was able to snag it for $114. I wasn't planning on picking up a tablet at this point, but I couldn't resist that price for a quality piece of hardware. I think it's pretty great so far.
The 7" size is perfect for reading, I think. I did want the Kindle PaperWhite for reading books, but now I don't think I'll have much issue reading on a regular screen. I also like running pure android rather than the modified versions you might get on other devices, so that's a plus.
A lot of these electronics sites have had some good sales for the past few weeks. I'd keep an eye out for those. Amazon also had some good sales on the Kindle Fire HDX too which seems comparable to the N7 2013 model stats wise. Though you'd have to deal with Amazon's Fire OS fork of Android.
(And of course I'd stay away from the overpriced iPad unless you're just made of money. )

Re: Tablets
I don't have a tablet pretty much for the same reasons as you, lol
I could probably convince myself too though. But I don't want to buy one until I feel that I really need it so i'm going to not convince myself for a while longer.
Plus I recently convinced myself that it would be a good idea to buy a large new tv.. which I just love btw. Even as I am writing this I'm not sure why that would be an excuse not to buy a tablet. But I'll convince myself that it is.

Re: Tablets
Well, been using my tablet for about a day, so I'll do a review. As I said, I got a 2013 Nexus 7 for Christmas. I got a sweet deal from Office Depot, $30 off. I was kinda scared the seven inch screen would be too small, but seven inches is just right. Plenty of space to read and type. The screen display is super sharp, it makes my phone look so dated. The performance is super fast, it hasn't experience a single slowdown since I've used it. The games run great on it. Battery life is not too shabby either. So yeah, I'm pretty satisfied with it.
Re: Tablets
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus. Little old and runs ICS. I almost never use it tho. Just not into tablets much. Nice to have when I don't need to take a PC. I did buy my mom one couple years ago and she uses it for the bible at church so she does not have to lug a heavy book.

Re: Tablets
So last year, my Nexus 7 died the same day we moved into our house and I was without a tablet for over a year. Every time I would get some extra cash their would always be some surprise expense that take it from me. I had been thinking about going to an iPad and my wife surprised me with a early Christmas present: a new 2020 iPad 128GB model.

Nice!
So I have an iPad Pro 11" 2018 model with the Apple Pencil 2 and I love it. I do most of my drawing/painting on it now.
