Which of these Laptops is better?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a Laptop as a Birthday present. It's mainly going to be used for Internet browsing, but will probably be occasionally used to play games.

Which of these two Laptops seems to be better:

Acer Aspire 5532 Laptop, AMD Athlon64 TF-20 1.6GHz, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD, DVD-SM,WLAN N, 15.6" Ati HD3200, Dark Blue, Windows 7 Home Premium 64BIT

or:

Compaq Presario CQ61 Laptop, Celeron Dual Core T3000 1.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 15.6" HD TFT, DVD±RW, GMA 4500M,Webcam,Bluetooth, HDMI, Windows 7 Home Premium

I don't know all that much tech but the moment you see 'celeron,' run for the hills. The ATI HD3200 card should be able to play most games beautifully; but probably not the newer, more graphically-demanding games. And you can never have too much RAM. Of the two the Acer is superior. Just avoid Compaq in general.

I suppose I'd agree about the Acer. Celerons aren't so great. Besides the only specs that are "better" on the Compaq is that it has .2ghz higher, webcam, bluetooth, and HDMI. It's not clear if the Acer has any of that from the details given. Neither of those graphics chips will do very well with modern games but some older games might run.

I can't speak about reliability for either but I'd go with the Acer out of the two. (Though I'd probably save for something better especially if you want to do any kind of modern gaming.)

Honestly I would avoid both. You're setting yourself up for repairs and breakdowns. Acer has fallen in ranks of a decent laptop and avoid anything with Compaq.

I would go with a Dell laptop.
