Human behaviour and games

The wonderful world of video games awaits you. Console or PC. Old school or new school. Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo. It doesn't matter. We don't discriminate.

Human behaviour and games

Post by darkly »

An interesting study on human behaviour in an MMO "suggests humans get more peaceful as the world ends": http://www.iflscience.com/editors-blog/ ... -ends/all/. Not a perfect study but still interesting.

Another, rather old, but still interesting blog on immersion in games. Rather lengthy but an interesting read, has a few interesting points: "Becoming immersed is partly that you really care about the outcome, for whatever reason, so you need some sort of emotional sensitivity to be able to connect to the game and want to have that connection." ..which suggests that players are actually highly imaginative and emotional. Read it here: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... -immersion

I've been thinking a lot about this lately, mostly because none of my friends ever seem to get as immersed in games as I do. I know I'm somewhat more sensitive than most people, would make sense that a higher emotional sensitivity enables a stronger connection to games and a better immersion in general. I often replay certain games because of how they make me feel. Interestingly, some games will always make me feel a certain way regardless how many times I play them. Do you ever do that?
