Cing.

Just a general topic to discuss Cing games. Please remember to use the spoiler tag.

It's really a shame that Cing have filed for bankruptcy. Then again, no one seems to know what level of bankruptcy Cing filed for, there may still be a chance that they will continue to develop games.

"Last Window" was trademarked in Europe. That may be a sign that Nintendo are planning to translate and release Last Window in English, although it certainly doesn't guarantee anything.

Has anyone played Again yet? I completed it a couple of days ago. I think Cing have made better games, but I don't think Again is as bad as some reviewers claim. It can take a little getting used to the graphic style, but it's not really an issue when you are used to it, in my opinion. The execution of the story is pretty good as well.
Spoiler: (Highlight to read)
Although I did find it somewhat predictable. I had definite suspicions about "that character" very early in the game, and was slightly disappointed when it turned out I was right. Also, J took too long to figure out the Baslock part. :P

It's interesting that Cing definitely seemed to be considering the idea of a sequel with the ending.

Not really a spoiler, but I was amused by the start of the game. Room 315? The main character's nickname being J? Not many Hotel Dusk reference's after that, though.

Has anyone apart from Vyse and myself played Glass Rose? I thought the atmosphere of the game was closest to Another Code/Trace Memory, especially as you spend the game inside a Mansion, but somewhat like Hotel Dusk in that the Mansion is full of people, all with their own agenda's, fears and hopes. You can tell that Glass Rose was one of (if not the first) game/s Cing made, that idea of picking out parts of a conversation that interested you was innovative, but could have been implemented far better, it could get quite frustrating picking out the exact word or phrase that you needed to continue the conversation. Takashi was also quite a bland/generic protagonist, in my opinion.

Despite this, Glass Rose still had the intriguing, intricately woven story that other Cing games, especially Hotel Dusk, are known for.

As the biggest fan of Cing I am sad to tell you but they have closed down.
Over at SD in my sig I have a permanent "RIP CING"
As for last window being published to the west,it's not looking to good.
Not played Again yet and Glass Rose was never released in the US.
It's been one of my most wanted game for years.

I will be forever saddened of Cing's closure. They were my second favourite developer right behind Suda 51 and his studios.

I can't afford to buy any game right now but man I wish I could snag Little Kings Story before it becomes impossible to find.

Do you have a source to say Cing have actually closed down? (I'm not doubting you, I'd just like to see it.) The only thing I've heard is that they filed for bankruptcy.

It's the economy's fault, really.

Not only Cing got the axe, but even those delightful little companies that I like to associate with the wondercompany from the 32bit era (Love-de-lic), like skip Ltd (Chibi-Robo, bit-Generations), Vanpool (Tingle RPG), Punchline (Chulip, Rule of Rose) are currently semi-dead or playing under their potential.

Fact is, there's just not enough money to make these sort of games right now... Especially in the state japanese companies are in...

I'm guessing for Cing, Little King's Story will be their little trophy, even if it was under-appreciated. They've made great games, but I guess their zenith was still to come...

I'm sure as quality authors their talented workers will find employment elsewhere, though...

After all, even Kenichi Nishi, Kenji Eno and Masaya Matsuura are "stuck" doing iPhone games now... things will pick up.

Here's hoping, anyway ;)

Finished Last Window today. I'm not sure if I prefer it to Hotel Dusk. It's not quite as fast paced, as the game takes place over a week, rather than a night, and it's a little more....realistic.

Anyone else played yet?
