Thats what I dont get
The "I want a gun for protection". Why??? Is life sooooo bad in America people only feel safe if they have a gun??
Doesnt locking your door do?
Are Police THAT bad?
When I go to bed at night I dont fear somebody breaking in with a gun.
I dont go to work fearing I will have a gun pulled up on me.
I really dont get it. I dont understand the mentality to it.
Brotherman wrote:Locking your doors is fine, but can only do so much. The police can only get to certain places but so fast. I also don't worry about someone breaking in with a gun and etc. But stuff does happens. When I say I want a gun for protection, I'm not talking about walking around with it 24/7 (that's just creepy). Really though, the mentality here is that guns give you "power". Yeah, it's a dumb mentality.
because criminals will have guns no matter how restrictive you make them.
Would disagree there. In the UK it really isnt a case of criminals will have them regardless. Its much much much rarer that a criminal will hold a gun. Much more likely a knife. It would be very rare to know of a gun crime.

I think the argument about it being the second amendment is that it's ingrained into our rights from the beginning and if they can change that then they can change any of the amendments. People (especially paranoid people) will look at it like their rights are being taken away.
I wish it was free, but like all healthcare here you have to pay. It's kind of a convoluted system and I'm not sure what to think of the new healthcare plan that will be starting in 2014. We'll see I guess.
