Me myself and I

Post by Kyodai »

I hope some folks still remember me - as brotherman already noticed i had been absent for quite a while. I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I'm egocentric enough to offer this post in case anyone really is.

I turned 31 in may and against my plans I am still not a millionaire. Still i have decided to delay the midlife crisis and concentrate on living.

I have been to Japan 3 times already and going for a 4th time this August. It's quite obvious you can blame Shenmue for my obsession with Japan. Although this probably started earlier (Whuts the fuss about this country where video games grow on trees?) i think it was Shenmue that fascinated me for japanese architecture, lifestyle and the people. Quite obvious that when i went there first i noticed there is even much more about it than the Game You arcade and shrines about cats. It's just a weird alien world that in reality is like a big mix of Sega arcades, Manga and Bruce Lee movies. I learned to love japanese bamboo forests, I'd never have guessed bamboo can grow that high and dense. I really learned to love Tokyo, this strange mix of neon advertisements, speaking escalators and people pwning Guitar Hero with blindfolded eyes.

I have learned programming and specialized in making cheating tools for online games. I also learned a lot about programming websites in asp and php, worked a lot on my hacking skills and how to repair laptops. I learned a lot about online marketing, website flipping and webservers. I am currently building up a cheating community and we are finally having success with marketing strategies and SEO.

I'm still working as a network administrator at a German bank but it looks like they will soon outsource the whole IT department, so it prolly will change sooner or later.

I'm still single and thus at least dont need to spend money for wife and kids. Starting to lose my good faith in "love at first sight" as most turned out to also be "breaking up at second sight.

I nearly stopped collecting watches, but my notebook/Tablet PC/UMPC collection has grown with every visit to Japan. I still play airsoft, but the ocassions got rare. Only had 1 match this year so far, so not really playing a lot one could say.

Well so far about me, i hope everyone else is still doing fine and healthy.

31, man you're getting up there. :) My boss is actually from Germany, he is still a German citizen actually but lives here in VT. I find myself on Google street view roaming around Japan when things are slow. Very unique place, you never know what you might run into on that street view over there. Glad to see your doing well. Stop by here more often!

Thanks everybody! Ha, i like Street View, too. Just checked it out recently and i immediately found that small 7-Eleven in Minami-Senju were i often went shopping. Was also roaming through the streetes of Akihabara, you can even go through these small back alleys were the cheap used laptop shops are. truly amazing. But I'm sooooo looking forward to August when I'll be there myself again. BTW: What do germans do in Vermont? I thought they'd get tared and feathered. XD If I was rich enough i would move to Japan for a while. I just never get tired of hanging out in arcades, browsing second hand video game stores for treasures and trying out all Ropongi bars.

LOL, why would he be tared and feathered? He claims that the US is a great tax refuge compared to Germany, though he complains all the time how the US doesn't tax enough. He says how the US does this and that wrong, though he has been living here full time for about 15 years. And when he gets into his rants I usually have this face... Probably in VT is one of the few places he can do this without someone getting in his face. Sometimes he makes good points but other times he's just... well out there.

Ropongi Hills, that's the place to be, if you can afford like the equivalent of $2,000 a month for rent. :P

Pssshh, don't tell anyone but i always stay at the "bum-class" hotels in Minami-Senju (from "3000 yen a night"), staying a month i save a small fortune with that. But there's these hourly rate hotels with nice theme rooms if you got that dream girl in Ropongi - try out the jungle room, secret tip.

here in germany we have a term that would be translated to "high level ranting" - we love ranting about everything - even if we drive a porsche and earn far over the european average. But yeah here in Germany the US system is actually considered to be better in nearly every single point of view - minus public health care. If i ever have a huge commercial succes with one of my projects imma think about moving to the US. For comapnies the tax rates are really appealing, quite a difference if you pay 500.000 bucks a year taxes or just 250.000...

Hey dude, nice to see you!

Isn't Roppongi where all the STD infected hos are?
What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons. You're born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I'm living like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't one.

Well here's my opinion on our health care coverage. It's the best in the world if you can afford it (have insurance), otherwise you're basically screwed. My employer provides me good health care, dental, vision, but the minute they decide to give me the boot is the minute I got nothing. It is a major part of what keeps me there. But my boss is a HUGE socialist and he always gets all wound up when you bring up certain subjects, he surely is a 'high level ranter' as you said. :D Yea I would like to go to Japan myself. I would like to one day have a place in Seattle because it is a beautiful, safe city as long as Kim Jong Ill doesn't decide to shoot missiles at it. That way I can also get on a plane and take vacations in Japan.

It is a beautiful place Jeff, but I would say definitely not the place you want to go if you're trying to avoid socialists. Also, it is not really any safer than any other large city unless you live on Mercer Island or something like that. On the upside it is a good place to live if you like being taxed out of your brain.

Well never been to Seattle, but it's prolly cool. I wanna see Aspen. And travel from Los Angeles to Las vegas in a red convertible like Hunter Thompson did. And walking through San Francisco in worn out jeans. But then again when I'm like "Hey imma go visit you" to my dubby from L.A. he's like "Hell no, there's nuttin to do here, let's meet up in Tokyo". Yeah he also wanted to come and see Germany, but what should i say? We always end up in Tokyo...really.

And hi Juan and Tao, hope you're both doing fine!

Oh and SOFMAPU!!!!!!
