Man oh man there are no posts in here! So I thought I'd share some of the projects I've been doing for school.

Thanks. Since then I've put up the animations I made for ... animation class. (Finally got a youtube account  )

And I made a flash game yesterday in media design class. This one uses the microphone so if you don't have one, you can't play it unfortunately.

This was my third animation project. Sprites made in photoshop, animation done in flash. 100% Nintendo nostalgia.

Just watched the Nintendo one. Good stuff. I liked how you had the Goombas doing everything. I didn't get it at first, though. It's really early.

I was PMing Yukio for tips on this, but i never thought to put it in here! Its my first time using flash, and it wanted the idea of the dragon and phoenix mirror rolling together to meet in the middle to reveal my Shenmue desigend text of "Irelands Biggest Shenmue Fan", but this is as far as i have gotten:

Image

I see its a very tepremental process, since i have been encountering problems throughout, just trying to make the damn mirrors spin (firstly the gif lost its quality, then the mirrors themselves developed a ragged edge whilst in motion)
I have also tried Flash 8 and CE4, and id love to actually get some at Adobe and ask them why is it so damn hard to get a transparent background on opening a new gif project!! Oh and also why its not an easy process to merge layers! Its as if those jobs are too easy to do, and they deliberately made them harder to use with the interface! I will hopefully get to grips with Flash 8 and take it from there. I have some ideas for Shemue flash projects so i might just leave the above gif as it is (i wanted to go on and try to achieve what i originally wanted it to achieve, but now i just dont know.

Well if you're indeed doing it in flash, I'd take the gif file into photoshop first, make sure you have the background cut out. one quick way to get rid of the white jaggedy edges is to right click the layer, go to blending options, and go down to stroke, make the stroke on the inside and the desired thickness and pick a color that closely matches the mirror. It should fill in those white pixels. At that point I'd save it as a PNG. (Make sure the background layer is still transparent so it saves the transparency!)

As for merging layers, just ctrl+click the desired layers to select more than one, right clicking and hit merge layers. Or up on the layers menu go to merge layers.

About making a spinning mirror in flash: If you make each mirror its own movie clip (right click the image on the stage, convert to symbol, set type to movie clip.) Inside that movie clip (double click the image) you can set up a motion tween where you rotate the image.
